As Animal Care Lead, you are responsible for making sure the volunteers keep the animals on property healthy and safe. These responsibilities that can be delegated to volunteers include:
Pastures/Pens
- The pastures and pens are secured to prevent animals from escaping/entering.
- The feed and water troughs are clean and in good working condition.
- The gates are well-maintained with proper signage.
Animal Health
- Checking the animals' health and well-being.
- Ensuring animals have adequate feed and water.
- Conducting de-worming, defleeing and ear checks (cleaning if necessary) of each animal in care of the shelter.
- Ensuring all animals are properly sheltered, fed, and cared for.
Administration
- Creating the weekly animal feeding schedule.
- Developing a purchase list of items that can improve the overall animal health and their well-being.
- Purchasing feed on a weekly basis.
- Reporting to the Executive Director, where any issues for the above items will be addressed.
